CHARLESTON HARBOR, SC, USA
MRS partnered with GBA to provide a TVG magnetometer survey of the Charleston Entrance Harbor using a Geometrics TVG 882 Gradiometer to support the deepening and widening of the Charleston Harbor Entrance.
The equipment used for the project was a Geometrics Transverse Gradiometer (TVG). The frame used minimized the inline drag enabling a 1:6 layback to depth ratio. The TVG system was towed on a 300ft tow line and at 3-5ft height above sediment. This gradiometer was uniquely designed to keep a large separation between the electronic equipment and the magnetic sensors.
Survey Lines were run at 7.5 ft spacing for the length of the channel (~24,000 ft x 1200 ft) with the survey being completed in 30 days.
